Dr Chloe

Psychologist | Author | Speaker | Guide

I’m Dr Chloe Paidoussis-Mitchell — Chartered Counselling Psychologist, author of The Loss Prescription, and creator of healing tools for grief, trauma, loss and personal transformation.

I am not only a psychologist. I am a guide for those navigating the invisible losses of life — the griefs that society doesn’t always see, but that weigh heavily on the soul. My vocation is to translate the complexity of psychology, neuroscience, and existential wisdom into pathways of compassion, love, and embodied healing.

I believe that in a fragmented world, our healing lies in remembering interdependence, restoring grace, and balancing power with love

For over 20 years, I’ve supported individuals and organisations through life’s hardest seasons — loss, burnout, trauma, identity shifts, emotional pain — helping people reconnect with their truth, strength, and personal meaning.

My work blends psychological expertise with a soulful, trauma-informed approach. I believe the body carries untold stories — and when we learn to listen, we unlock the path to healing.

As seen on CNN, BBC Radio 2, and in The Guardian, I offer therapy, and online courses for those ready to live with more clarity, self-worth, and wholeness.

My Story

I became a psychologist because I’ve always been drawn to the truth beneath the surface — the places where pain hides, where grief reshapes us, and where healing begins.

But it wasn’t just professional. In recent years, my own body called for change. A diagnosis of FMF & more recently CRPS (a chronic pain condition) brought me to my knees — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. No clinical training could prepare me for what it meant to sit inside pain I couldn’t fix. That experience transformed everything.

I began to listen more deeply to what the body was trying to say — not just mine, but my clients’ too. I came to understand pain not as a problem to solve, but as a message to honour. And I learned that healing isn’t linear or logical — it’s sacred, messy, and always possible.

This personal and professional insight led me to write The Loss Prescription — a practical and compassionate guide to grief recovery, now published by HarperCollins. It’s a book for anyone navigating loss — not just of a person, but of identity, health, stability, or meaning.

Today, I feel my vocation reaches beyond the consulting room. I see myself as a translator of suffering — taking the complexity of psychology, neuroscience, and existential philosophy, and shaping it into language and practices that bring compassion, clarity, and hope.

I believe that the invisible burdens we carry — griefs without rituals, traumas without recognition, the quiet ache of over-independence — are shaping not only individual lives but the wellbeing of our society. My work is to help people and communities meet these experiences with love, wisdom, and grace, and to remind humanity of its vast capacity for resilience and renewal.

Through therapy, writing, teaching, and global speaking, I serve as both psychologist and guide: holding space for pain while pointing towards meaning, belonging, and the possibility of transformation. Whether you’re grieving, in pain, or simply seeking something more real, I hope my work helps you feel less alone — and more free.
