Dr Chloe

Psychologist | Author | Speaker

I am Dr Chloe Paidoussis-Mitchell, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, author, and clinician whose work explores how human beings heal through presence, compassion, and emotional truth.

My professional life has been shaped by over two decades of clinical practice with people navigating grief, trauma, emotional pain, identity change, and the quieter, often invisible losses that shape a life. These experiences have taught me that suffering is rarely resolved through effort alone, and that healing is most often found through attuned presence, understanding, and care.

Alongside my clinical work, I have long been interested in how psychological knowledge is communicated. Much of what people encounter in modern wellbeing culture is fragmented, solution-focused, or driven by optimisation. My work offers an alternative: a depth-based, trauma-informed perspective that integrates counselling psychology, existential understanding, and the lived experience of the body, heart & mind.

I am particularly interested in the ways emotional pain is carried; not only in the mind, but in the body and in relationships and in how listening to the heart's intelligence can restore trust, coherence, and vitality. This perspective informs my writing, teaching, and clinical work alike.

Alongside my clinical and academic work, I am regularly invited to contribute to public conversations on grief, psychological healing, and emotional wellbeing through broadcast and print media, bringing psychological depth to wider cultural discussions of loss, resilience, and human meaning.

I am the author of "The Loss Prescription", and have published academic work on existential trauma-informed approaches to therapy with Routledge and PCCS. My writing and speaking extend beyond grief into broader questions of healing, embodiment, compassion, and the restoration of emotional authenticity and trust in oneself.

Whether I am working privately with individuals, teaching, or speaking publicly, my intention remains the same:

to articulate a psychologically rigorous, humane way of meeting suffering - one that honours pain without pathologising it, and allows life, love, and purpose to re-emerge in their own time.
